What makes a good MC — and what you get with Jo

A good MC is the difference between an event that runs and an event that lands. The room relaxes because someone clearly in charge is enjoying being there. Jo’s style is warm, bright and buzzy yet trustworthy and sincere — she makes any audience feel welcome, comfortable and part of the conversation, whether it’s a boardroom of executives or a ballroom of five hundred.

Sydney based, Australia wide

Jo lives in Sydney and hosts across the city’s corporate and event venues — and she tours. She’s hosted live Q&A events across regional Australia for News Corp, so a conference in Brisbane, an awards night in Melbourne or a regional roadshow is all familiar territory. Travel is simply part of the quote.

One thing she doesn’t do: weddings. For corporate, media, brand and charity events — start here.

What clients say

Placeholder section — not real quotes. The layout is built and ready; the six cards below are dummy text so the design can be reviewed. Replace with real quotes (name, job title, company, event) before this page is promoted.

“Sample quote — what the client said about the room, the timing, or how Jo handled a moment that could have gone wrong.”
[Full name][Job title], [Company][Event name, year]
“Sample quote — ideally names a specific save: the speaker who ran late, the AV that failed, the segment that needed care.”
[Full name][Job title], [Company][Event name, year]
“Sample quote — the strongest kind names a repeat booking, e.g. ‘back for the fourth year running’.”
[Full name][Job title], [Company][Event name, year]
“Sample quote — from a charity or gala client, on how the fundraising moment was handled.”
[Full name][Job title], [Company][Event name, year]
“Sample quote — from a brand or launch client, on tone and how well she represented the brand.”
[Full name][Job title], [Company][Event name, year]
“Sample quote — from a conference organiser, on preparation and how little they had to manage on the day.”
[Full name][Job title], [Company][Event name, year]

Repeat bookings carry the most weight — “back for the fourth year” outperforms any adjective.

What a booking actually includes

The fee is never just the hours on stage — that’s the part everyone sees. Every booking includes:

No weddings. Corporate, media, brand and charity events are all Jo does — which means every hour of preparation goes into rooms like yours.

Common questions

How much does an MC in Sydney cost?

Every event is quoted individually — there's no rate card, because a 45-minute awards ceremony and a two-day national conference are different jobs. The quote reflects run time, preparation and scripting required, rehearsals, and travel. Send the date, venue and format and you'll get a straight answer quickly.

Does Jo travel outside Sydney?

Yes — Jo is Sydney-based and hosts Australia-wide. She has toured regional Australia hosting live Q&A events for News Corp, so interstate and regional events are familiar territory. Travel costs are included in the quote.

Does Jo MC weddings?

No — Jo doesn't take wedding bookings. Her hosting work is corporate events, conferences, awards nights, galas, brand launches, charity fundraisers and live Q&As.

Will Jo help write the run sheet and script?

Yes. Jo works from your run sheet or helps shape one, scripts her own links, and preps names, titles and pronunciations in advance. As a working journalist she does her homework on your organisation and your people before she walks in.

How far ahead should we book?

As early as you can — peak awards and gala season dates go first. Jo is currently booking for 2026/27. If your date is close, ask anyway; it costs nothing to check.
